A Very Important Question Regarding...Flip-Flops.

I wore flip-flops yesterday for the first time since I was a kid. In fact the last time I wore them they were called thongs. We don't call them that anymore because it conjures up images of very bad wedgies in our minds when we hear the word. So, for all you experienced thong--I mean flip-flop--wearers, I need some advice. Were they uncomfortable at first and do you eventually get used to that piece of leather or canvas or whatever material between your toes? My toes were uncomfortable all day. I'm also wondering if these particular flip-flops are too big for me. The bottom part seems to be the right size but could the straps be too loose. Are they supposed to be fairly snug or are they supposed to be loose? Please help me solve this important problem. :)

Well, with my experience, your feet will adjust. Some flip-flops don't take any adjusting but some do. They should fit not snugly but comfortably. If that makes sense. Sorry, I don't think I am much help. Good luck!

Hey Kim, I am Julie Johnson's SIL. My two cents on flip flops, now that I am 38 years old, is that they are painful. It all started last summer. I discovered that the "plugs" on the sides of my feet that hold the straps in the shoe were super painful. I still wear FFs but I don't enjoy them like I used to. The strap should lie on top of your foot, if they aren't they are too loose. Good luck. I struggle to NOT say thong as well.

Some flip-flops have much more comfortable straps than others. The Nike ones at Famous Footwear are extremely comfy- the strap is soft. I think with flip-flops you get the amount of comfort you pay for, sadly. I have never found a $2 pair of Walmart flip-flops that didn't hurt.

I wore flip flops for the first time this summer yesterday and tripped over a piece metal. It torn off my toenail and almost my top part of my toe. Would this happen if my trusty sneakers??? I say NAY!!!

I am a thong lover. (I think they should still be called thongs) The second warm weather hits, that is all I wear. I think the strap should definitely fit snug. And you will get used to the feeling of something between your toes. :) I suggest getting a pair of Teva's---they are all I wear.

The Nike ones "not quite the bradys" was talking about are my moms favorite. I thought I would let you know that they are on sale this week at Shopko! I love flip flops, you just need to find the right pair. I think I am going to have scars on my feet from my latest pair, but I love them!

I have a major tan line from my flip flops, and the only advice I have is that the plastic ones hurt, like old navys cheapo ones, but if you get ones with a more fabric like material for the straps it is much better, I have ones from target, I think they may be mossimo, for $10 that I love. and I think the reason for not calling them thongs is I just think, why are they talking about underwear?
