Economic crisis?

We went out on Saturday night with two other couples in the Elder's Quorum presidency. We pulled into the mall and it was packed. I don't go to the mall very often so I don't know what it's normally like but we had to drive around for a while to find a parking space. Then we went in and tried to get a table at P.F. Chang's. It was an hour wait so we walked down to Spaghetti Factory. There was no wait but still quite a few people were there. When things first really started going south in the economy I saw a few signs of people tightening their belts but I'm not really seeing that anymore. Maybe it's not possible to observe a real change in other people's habits. Has anyone else seen evidence of an economic crisis outside of your own checkbook?

Husband and I went to see Benjamin Button last week at a 21 theater megaplex. Same thing. The place was packed. We had to park a mile away. When I commented on it, he said the "people who know" have this to say about it: Until things get really bad in the economy, the entertainment industry will continue to see a slight INCREASE in revenue because people are stressed and feeling deprived and therefore are seeking escapism. Maybe it's true. (?)

It may not have hit Utah yet. But, it may be a kind of hording of fun and food. We know it is coming so we are stocking up just incase we may get to the lean times.

Sometimes I see it and sometimes I don't. Yes, the mall is packed, especially on Saturdays. The bad economy hasn't really hit Fargo but people are starting to lose their jobs. I'm not sure but it is a good thing that people are still buying as long as they can afford it and I hope they know what they can and can't do.

Marcus and I always talk about this. Amarillo doesn't seem to be affected by this yet and in truth, it hasn't affected Marcus and I much either. We have increased preparation for food storage, but other than the initial scare, it is pretty easy to forget about it if you have not lost a job yourself, probably not so good to be so complacent.

It is hard to see it but it must be happening. Maybe we have been hit harder down here but it is evident that people are spending less in how many stores and restuarants have closed.
